A new post has been long over due, but I have an excuse :)
I am making a big career/life move over the next few weeks and will be starting a whole new chapter of my life out in California. I am a little scared and a lot excited all at the same time, and its a little unnerving to feel so mixed about such a big change. But if I don’t grab life by the reins, who will.
One of the things I am unfortunately going to have to leave behind is my piano. I bought a used $200 dollar piano 3 years ago and started taking lessons in an attempt to satisfy a longing to learn music and be able to express in sound the emotions one feels so deep down. It was a very soothing experience and one that has convinced me that another (albeit smaller) piano/keyboard is in my near future, so I can continue to play.
As part of the changes in my life, I have also decided that since this is my blog after all, it doesn’t need to always need to be about just photography, and can be a way to talk about things that are inspiring me. So here are my random likes at the moment, and things that I have been enjoying over the last few days/weeks:
Music : Tiesto – Feel it in my Bones (feat Tegan and Sara). Both of these girls (identical twins) have such great voices, and as a result of this song, I have been trying out a few of their albums as well. I am a little mixed at the moment, but it will probably grow on me, as I am just addicted to their siren songs…
Books: Zach Synder – Art of Sucker Punch I am so pumped for this movie to come out in two weeks, the suspense has been killing me. This is Zach’s baby, and seeing the visual’s he and his art team dreamed up, and following the story line, just brings out the inner geek in me. I want this movie to rock!
Books: Chuck Klosterman – Fargo Rock City I finally finished this book, and I can’t say enough about this guy. He basically got me reading again, and Non-Fiction, which is a feat. He is both entertaining and enlightening, and who doesn’t like that?
Art: Joel Sartore – Rare I found this book on photoeye.com while I was looking thru other new photo books. The images of these near extinct animals in America is heart wrenching and inspiring at the same time. Makes you step back and realize that not all animals that are disappearing are from some far away land, some are in our backyard.
